Our TEM Laboratory will provide researchers at UNLV with state ľof-the-art high-end high resolution electron microscopy capabilities to serve as indispensable analytical tool in areas of Material Sciences, Nuclear Technology, Metallurgy, Microbiology, Polymer Science, and many more.

It is our delight to provide you with the following services:

We furthermore can assist you and provide you with the adequate procedure to prepare a suitable electron transparent sample of the material of your interest.

You are welcome to use our sample preparation equipment for Ceramics, Metals, Biological Material, and Polymers:

  • Leica EM U6 Ultramicrotome
  • Tuned Piezo Cutting Tool (Model 601, Gatan)
  • Dimpler (D500i, South Bay Technology)
  • Low Angle Milling and Polishing System (Model 1010 LAMP, Fischion)
  • Wedged Polishing (Allied MultiPrep Polishing System)
    • Radioactive Samples
    • Non-Radioactive Samples
  • Electrolytic Polishing System (TenuPol-5, Struers)
  • Grinding/Polishing (Tegra System, Struers)
  • Low Speed Saw (Minitom, Struers)
  • Vacuum Sample Mount (EpoFix, Struers)

Potential radioactive effluents as a result of sample preparation will be filtered (1 micron) and recycled. Therefore an environmental filtering and recirculation system (EnvironMet, Buehler) was adapted.
